Head on over for the FRESHEST Italian food in town @Matto, The Oberoi, Business Bay, Dubai

Matto restaurant is located in the Lobby Level of The Oberoi in Business Bay. We made our way over to sample some regional Italian cuisine and were simply blown away! The food was so fresh and delicious we literally went crazy or Matto as they say in Italian 😀

The beautiful setting of the place is something you will appreciate as well. There is loads of light flooding in through the glass windows onto the all wooden furniture accentuated by colourful pots & bottles alongwith loads of quirky art on the walls.

IMG_3895Begin your meal with some fresh Vegetable or Fruit salad. You can pick and choose your ingredients after which the Chef personally tosses them with the desired dressing to create your dish. They also have a counter with fresh breads, cold cuts, burrata and a couple of traditional hot dishes like Parmigana, Lamb Shanks, Lasagna and Baked potato for you to dig into. Once you’re done sampling these preparations from the live stations, you can move on to order pizza and pasta served fresh on your table from a selected menu.

If you are a die-hard pizza fan, you are in for a treat! They make the freshest pizza with the simplest of ingredients. We tried the Parmigiana and Tartufo but there’s loads more! The first one has fried eggplant and fresh rocket leaves while the second is flavoured with loads of black truffle and green asparagus. These were made to perfection and an absolute winner for us!

We ordered the Spinach & Ricotta ravioli that was a fantastic option. Filled with a wonderful stuffing, the ravioli is tossed in a flavoursome tomato sauce. Deliciously scrumptious! Overall it’s the ingredients that shine in the end with fuss free preparations and simple plating.

They have a dessert counter with mixed treats for a sweet ending. You can try Italian delicacies like the Tiramisu, Cannoli or Raspberry mousse.

The staff is quite friendly and will cheerful pop in from time to time to check on you. We even had drinks served to us by a server in a donkey head gear…seemed like A Midsummer Night’s Dream moment 😛 (If you has Shakespeare in school, you’ll get that reference). So basically you can expect a relaxed setting and some really-friendly service over a comfortably wonderful meal!

Pay a visit on Fridays and you can enjoy their brunch from 12.30 pm – 4.30 pm starting for AED 180 per person or Monday nights where you can enjoy unlimited pizzas and one drink for AED 80 per person.

#Summer Treats at this Fruit Bar serving up fresh fruit-themed dishes | Hola, La Mer, Dubai

There are days when the weather is just perfect for an ice cream! We are lucky to have landed in Hola on such a day to devour some refreshing cold treats. This cute little space serves a variety of fruit themed dishes apart from just ice creams that just made us stop by.

Don’t miss to spot the ice cream chandeliers or the colourful tiles at the counter or jute baskets hanging from the ceiling or the fun artwork outside. You can chose to sit outdoors while you soak the sun and enjoy a lovely view of the beach or pop in on the swing table in the corner that just screams fun!

Get Set Gobble

They do some refreshing smoothies with Rosario being one of their best sellers.Made with a combination of berries like Strawberry, Raspberry, Blackberry and Blueberry, the thick smoothie is finished off with a topping of Raspberry Sorbet that just brings the whole thing together.  It’s perfect to slurp on in the heat and is absolutely refreshing.

From the Cocteles section we picked the Pine Berry and were positively surprised by the wonderful flavour combination of this one. Pineapple juice, Blueberry and Mint combined to make this beautifully green ombre hued drink.

If you’re craving something a bit savoury they have a Mushroom Avocado crepe made with mixed mushrooms, tomato sauce and candied onions. Topped with creamy sour cream and parmesan this was a good dish but we recommend sticking to the fruity concoctions here.

Fruteros are basically fruit bowls with ice cream and this is as good as it gets. We tried the Pinita Colada with pineapple ice cream, passion fruit, but you can also choose the melon or papaya.

While you are here, you have to try their Popsicle or Paletas as they are called in Spanish. I totally loved the Chocolate one topped with caramelized bananas. They have some pretty fun flavours to try like the Mango Margarita, Lemon mint, Matcha Mango, Avocado, Blackberry Mojito besides many more!

Made with loads of mixed berries and topped with lots more, the Berry ice cream roll is absolutely irresistible. Whipping it up right before our eyes, it’s always fascinating to watch them being made. Check out the video below 🙂

Authentic Thai food with a serene ambiance, we’ve discovered another Thai spot in town | Bamboo Kitchen, Habtoor Grand Resort, Autograph Collection, JBR

Bless our luck coz we found another delicious Thai spot in town! The beautifully vast property of Habtoor Grand Resort in JBR is home to a garden restaurant that serves up some great Thai dishes complemented by traditional dance performances. So we got into a golf cart and headed down to take a look at their Friday brunch.

Get Set Gobble

Ambiance | The restaurant is tucked away in The Habtoor Grand Resort located in JBR. Nestled between large trees with beautiful waterways on the outside, all of which we adored, they have views as lovely as the meal with plush green gardens and lots of chirping birds. We even spotted multiple skydivers making their way down with the parachute to zero gravity. The relaxed ambiance is perfect to enjoy long conversations while indulging in a variety of traditional Thai dishes.

Crowd | The mood of the crowd is easy going with a mix of guests from the hotel popping down for a meal as well as people from outside.

Food |  Begin with a selection of flavourful salads like the Papaya salad, Grill chicken salad, Shrimp salad or Pomello salad which is our newest favourite along with a choice of fresh seafood. They even have a Lebanese counter complete with hummus and muhamarra and, a sushi station.

There are a couple of live sections like the noodle counter where you can stir up everything from veggies to seafood to a variety of noodles to your liking. Go for the spicy egg noodles with prawns or Garlic flat noodles with veggies, you’ll lend up loving them both. You can also enjoy some hot noodle soup or crispy fish and squid tempura.IMG_0032

They have some lovely curries and stir fries to appease your Thai palate. Outside they have some iconic dishes like the Prawns with cashew nuts, Phad thai, Fish cake, Garlic rice, Spring rolls, Chicken satay that you will appreciate for their traditional flavours.

Finish your meal with the colourful dessert spread with sweets like Oreo cheesecake, Chocolate tart, Raspberry mouse, Mango Delight, Blueberry mouse and so much more!

Drinks | The brunch includes a selection of alcoholic beverages like gin, rum, whisky, beer and more though we highly recommend you ditch that and order the passion fruit mojito instead.

IMG_0030Service | The service is pleasant and you will spot everyone wearing a smile that is simply contagious. From the welcoming ‘swadee kha’ to goodbyes after your meal, the native staff serves you with so much warmth.

Entertainment | Enjoy a live band singing catchy English numbers to guitar strings that will make your body sway and foot tap for sure. The traditional Thai dance performances were another highlight. It was quite enthralling to watch the dramatic movements complemented by glamorous outfits.

Take your taste buds straight to heaven with a traditional Thai meal @Benjarong, Dusit Thani Dubai

If you are a die hard Thai food fan, this place will surely become your personal favourite when it comes to Thai cuisine. Benjarong is located on the 24th floor of Dusit Thani Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Get Set Gobble

Ambiance | Stepping into the restaurant, yo will feel you have been transported straight to Thailand. They have a gorgeous traditional ambiance having paid special attention to detail form the to — the crockery. Melodious Thai music being played live in the background complemented by some beautifully flavoured dishes ensure that you end up having a good time. Chose to dine in one of their private rooms or sit by the window and enjoy beautiful views of the Burj Kahlifa…either way, we aren’t complaining.

Food | Personally, I always begin my Asian meals with Khow Greb Goong or Prawn crackers….love dipping them into the roasted chilli sauce. So if like me you’re tired of ordering the same old papaya salad give their pomello salad a try. The Yum Som O is beautifully flavoured with a sweet chilli mix that subdues the strong flavour of the pomello. It was such a lovely change for me to try this.

IMG_9713If you are in the mood for sharing, we recommend you order the Hot pot that comes in 3 options, Vegetarian, Seafood or Meat. Be prepared to indulge in a huge bowl of simmering hot soup to which are added ingredients like glass noodles, tofu, mushrooms, morning glory, egg, fish cake, chicken, prawns and more at the table. Giving it a couple of minutes to cook, the server helps you out during the entire process to pour the hot soup additionally flavoured with a spicy tofu paste. There is a lovely balance of flavours in the soup and you certainly won’t be complaining about the quantity.

Their Goong Phad Med Mamuang, which are  prawns tossed in a chilli sauce with cashews, is simply out of this world. Pair this with the Goey Cee Mee which are crispy egg noodles loaded with a variety of veggies for a lovely combo.

To sip ask for the Lemongrass Tea that is beautifully fragrant or the fresh Thai Coconut water served with a pretty orchid on top. If you are full beyond compare by the end of the meal, simply order a portion of the Ice Cream Kra-Ti to finish on a sweet note. The coconut ice cream is absolutely delicious with pieces of fresh coconut inside as well that are complemented well by the savoury roasted peanuts. Delish!

So head on over and take your taste buds straight to heaven!

All that glitters is gold, including the food @24 karat, Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf Dubai, Za’abeel

How often have we come across the saying ‘All that glitters is not gold’. This restaurant however aims to prove it’s true quite literally by adding GOLD to actual dishes. Talk about luxury dining done right!

Cue Bruno Mars’ ’24 karat magic in the air’. If you are someone who loves to experience out of the box things, this place is for you. Ditch your usual date night spots and head here for a romantic meal. Located in the Mariott Hotel in Al Jadaff, the good thing is that you don’t have to battle a lot of traffic to get there and plus there’s valet.

Get Set Gobble

What to expect | The restaurant is all about a luxurious dining experience bringing together good music and good food. With a fabulous ambiance the place pretty much ticks off all the boxes for a great night out. They have a variety of dishes on their menu that can be made with or without gold.

What to eat | We started off with one of the most prettiest salads on their menu, the Fresh Burrata with 3 way cherry tomato. They were serious when they said it’s fresh and you will love every bit of the creamy cheese topped with gold flakes. They’ve got a black pizza that you’re totally going to love. The carbon pizza base is topped with buffalo mozarella, pink prawns and yes ofcourse, gold!

Ok guys, so when a dish reads as The One and Only Ossobuco burger on the menu, you know you’ve got to try it. The presentation surely captivated us with slow cooked veal stuffed between a gold covered burger placed in the middle of a generous portion of potato sticks. We dived right in and bet you will too.

A perfect dish to end your meal, we recommend you try the Golden Bomb when at the restaurant. The chocolate bomb tastes as good as it looks.

Don’t Miss | Their bar is pretty cool and a great place to chill. The bartender is a genius and does some brilliant cocktails.

Head on over here and have a fabulous time while grooving to Hip hop music and some good food.

Perfect spot for long conversations, drinks and good grub | Barcelona style tapas bar, Toro + Ko, Citywalk, Dubai

Citywalk boasts of some of the nicest eateries in Dubai. By the way, did you know that that The Square in Citywalk is a licensed area so you can actually get drinks there. Wohoo! We recently discovered another place, Toro + Ko which is a Barcelona style high end Tapas bar located in The Square and were really looking forward to trying it out.

Get Set Gobble

Ambiance |With carefully designed interiors, the wooden furniture here is contrasted with lots of green plants. The industrial look is colourful yet modern giving the place a super chill vibe.  We have to say, each restaurant in Citywalk is simply prettier than the other.

They’ve got a lovely outdoor seating area and an equally lit bar so you can happily enjoy the beautiful Dubai weather. The place is the perfect spot for long conversations over some good grub.

What to eat | The menu features a lot of tapas which are essentially small plates of food. The great thing about ordering tapas is that not all the food comes at the same time. They are served as and when they are prepared so the table is never empty and since the portions are small, you can try out a variety. Sounds fun right?

Begin your meal with Pan De Cristal Amb Tomaquet that is the traditional Catalan bread imported from Spain (since it can’t be made in UAE’s climatic conditions) served with garlic and tomato sauce. The bread is thin and crunchy. If you like a bit of heat, do ask for their chilli sauce on the side.

Some of the dishes that stood out for us were the Mejillones Al Azafran (mussels in saffron sauce), Lubina Escabeche Gaudi (Seabass escabeche with almond sauce) and Brocheta De Pollo Moruno (chicken skewers).

Treat your taste buds to the Txangurro A La Donostiarra that is a San Sebastian style cheese crab. This one’s basically bliss on a plate! Another favourite was the Gamnas Al Ajillo which are garlic prawns served in a warm garlic oil broth that were absolutely delicious. Trust us, you won’t be able to stop yourself.

In Spain, paellas are a way of life and honestly we loved the Paella Mixta with lobster, prawns, mussels, chicken and chorizo. They are are made individually to order and mixed on the table so you get the caramelized rice at the bottom that is very essential to the overall flavour of the dish.

For desserts I wish we could sample everything they have on offer. We tried the Crema Catalana (creme brulee), Dessert of the day which was Chocolate fondant with raspberries (yumm!) and Churros Con Sus Salsas which was an obvious choice. Served with 3 sauces, chocolate, velvet and dulce de leche, it was a treat!

Personally, we would love to go visit the place again for sure! P.S. Ask for Biraj, he gave us some of the best recommendations from the menu.

Relive the good ol’ days as this quirky & colourful restaurant serves up delicious Mumbai street food | Moombai & Co., The H Hotel, Trade Centre Area

We’re always exploring the city looking for pretty places to eat and recently discovered Moombai and Co located inside The H Hotel. With it’s vibrant ambiance, colourful interiors, vast menu and delicious food, this place was surely worth the visit.

Get Set Gobble

What to expect | The interiors are quite quirky and nostalgic with a great atmosphere to hang out with family or friends. The place is filled with colourful memorabilia like old Bollywood movie posters, VCR cassettes, records and more. The food is reminiscent of dishes from Mumbai plated to suit the palette of Dubai.

What to eat | One look at the menu and we just couldn’t contain our excitement. It is filled with glorious dishes from the streets of India and a whole lot of Parsi food as well.

First things first, we started off with Sago chips served with an assortment of dips. It’s perfect to keep you munching as you wait for your order to arrive. I am a die hard Keema pav fan and instantly ordered this minced meat dish as I was pretty excited to try it out. Could it have been a bit more spicier…yes. Though Hari mirch jhinga seemed like it packed a spicy punch, it was surprisingly mild in flavour. We did love the flavours of those generously big prawns coated in the tangy marinade. Overall the food isn’t that spicy for the desi palette so go ahead and order some green chillies on the side like we did.

Bhel puri, the most popular street food from Mumbai certainly made it’s way to our table and instantly into our tummies. Most recommended is the Vada pav that is absolutely delicious. For the mains indulge in Aunty’s Bhuna Gosht paired with the Cheese garlic naan and you are in for a treat. The food here is good and you will probably end up over eating like we did 😛

We want to make a special mention for the Kulfi platter that has Strawberry, Kesar pista and Mango kulfi served on a big tub of ice with an assortment of fresh fruit to complement. This is definitely one for sharing in the group and a delicious way to end the meal.

This place serves some really nice cocktails. Some must haves include Munna Bhai MBBS that’s a whisky sour uniquely flavoured with raspberry, Auntie’s Chai Martini thats as the name suggests is a tea based vodka drink and Bollywood jhatka that’s a saffron infused daiquiri with apricot brandy. Brownie points cause they even have Kingfisher strong on tap!

Definitely check this place out if you wish to relive your time in Mumbai!

Head here for an Indo-Arabic menu @Ashiana, Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Tower, Dubai

Indian food goes straight to the heart, wouldn’t you say so? When it comes to soul food, we always look for a desi meal. Ashiana restaurant just took Indian cuisine and blended it with the culture of the city giving us an Indo-Arabic fusion menu. We headed down for a first look at what is on offer.

Get Set Gobble

What to expect | With a comfy and cozy ambiance this dining destination is perfect for eating with the family or a meal for two. Expect food with a twist with spices like zaatar and sumac making regular appearances alongside Indian garam masala.

What to eat | Vegetarians will love the Tandoori Sumac Paneer Tikka to begin with and the Batata Harra Masala for the mains. The spice mix is so apt that it will make you go back for seconds and thirds.

Zaatar jhinga tikka is one for the non vegetarians that is served with a spicy sumac tahini. Tandoori chicken, another Indian specialty is marinated with an Arabic spice called  Harissa that gives it a beautiful flavour without being to spicy. Pair it with the sumac naan for a great combination. The Chermoula Sea Bass is served on a bed of aloo jeera along with a tamarind curry sauce so be prepared for some unique take in the preparation of every dish. And it doesn’t stop there as you end the meal on a sweet note with Gulab Jamun Umali.

Don’t miss | The Ghazal band sings the most melodious tunes to keep you entertained throughout your meal. Whether you are dining by yourself or with a group, you are bound to enjoy the night.

Check out this place for a beautiful breakfast on the Palm Jumeirah | Revo Cafe, Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort, Dubai

We’re not exactly early risers but love to get up early once in a while to indulge in a hearty breakfast. It is one meal during the day where you can eat guilt free coz you know the body is working in overdrive that early. As they say, breakfast calories don’t count 😛

Whenever we have friends and family visiting us in Dubai, a drive along the Palm Jumeirah is a must which resulted us in spotting Revo Cafe located in Anantara Resort on the outer crescent. We decided to hit them up for brekkie; we thought it would be good but it was even better ya’ll.

Get Set Gobble

What to expect | Equal parts of food and peace. While the indoor area promises a funky vibrant decor with patchwork and wooden details, the outside verandah is much calmer with beautiful views.

What to eat | Their breakfast menu is pretty simple consisting of classics done right. While you wait for the food start by nibbling on their Blueberry or Peanut butter muffin while sipping on the fresh Detox or Balancing juice selection.

The egg section is pretty extravagant and you can have them poached, fried or baked to your liking. If you’ve worked up a bit of an appetite then order the Full English breakfast complete with your choice of eggs, sausages, bacon, hash brown, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans and sour dough toast…phew! It’s a great way to kick start the day.

Personally I was most excited to try the Waffles which was better than I had hoped. Topped with lavender honey, yoghurt and candied nuts, how can you go wrong with this one. Their Brioche French Toast is one dish we would return for. Served with caramelized banana, mascarpone and candied nuts, one bite of this and we were transported straight to heaven 😉 Highly recommended!

Overall we were pretty impressed with everything we tried. Honestly the food is good and the surroundings so calm, we recommend you bookmark them for the next time you are taking a drive along the Palm. **See what we did there, it rhymes! 😀

Healthy eating trend from Hawaii | Trying the Poke Bowl @Poke & Co, DIFC, Dubai

Correctly pronounced as ‘poh-ke’, this dish is traditional to Hawaii. It started off with raw tuna being served over rice along with vegetables. Essentially you could say that it’s like sushi in a bowl. However, this dish has come a long way where now you have an array of different protein options to pick from. Made with the freshest of ingredients packed with nutrition and flavour, it’s no wonder these are considered a healthy staple.

Get Set Gobble

It was my first time trying a Poke bowl and did not know what to expect. As we walked around the counter we discovered a selection of protein, vegetables and sauces that you could use to build your own bowl.

IMG_7055Build your own bowl | You start off with a base of rice (we picked the signature Japanese rice), top it with your choice of proteins (we tried the cooked salmon and shrimp), move on to the vegetables (we loaded it up with spring onion, edamame and cucumber) and then onto the toppings (we chose coriander, mixed nuts, avocado and mango) and finally our sauces and seasonings (we had the Spicy ginger and Matcha miso that came highly recommended with a generous sprinkle of their spice mix Togarashi). We must say, our bowl looked mighty good and as we dug in, we were pleased with the flavours we had managed to put in.

Why chose a Poke bowl | Not only are the ingredients fresh, but you can fully customize the bowl to your liking. They even have vegan options!

P.S. The cafe interiors are so comforting that you will want to cozy up with a book and your bowl.

So do you think you’d give this healthy bowl trend a try?! We highly recommend it.
