Trying the new #SummerTent @Kaftan Turkish Cuisine & Fine Art, Jumeirah

Summer certainly has it draw backs with the stark sun and high temperatures. However there are certain advantage to it as well like the beautiful Summer Tent at Kaftan restaurant on Jumeriah Road. The interiors are gorgeous to say the least complete with lush green trees, fairy lights, wooden furniture and a bright, cheery ambiance. The place looks equally beautifully at night and transform into the the perfect spot for a cozy meal.

IMG_1731The restaurant is very new but is already well known for their lavish menus. Be it breakfast or dinner, you are in for some serious eats! P.S. They have valet parking too. Here’s a look at what we indulged in at the new menu tasting we were invited to.

Get Set Gobble

The menu is pretty extensive and promises to cater to the needs of both vegetarians and non vegetarians. Some of the dishes we tried from the breakfast selection were Gurme Peynir Tabagi that is a gourmet Turkish cheese platter with dried figs, apricots, walnuts and black grapes, Sef’in Simit’d that has sunny-side up eggs enclosed in a sesame encrusted bread with sucuk in the middle and Bal & Kaymak that has honeycomb served with Turkish dairy cream. Their widespread menu offers enough choices for breakfast so you can literally feast away.

From the Cold mezze section we tried the Hummus and Yogurtlu Semizotu along with Kasap Sucuk Izgara from the Hot mezze.

There were a lot of dishes laid out for the main course and we loved treating our taste buds to their meaty delights. It’s easy to loose track of what all we tried considering the generous spread we were treated to. Once the table was set, we were quite excited to gulp it all down. Some of the must haves meaty mains at the restaurant include Kirma Tavuk, Tavuk Pirzola and Yogurtlu Kofete. We were all praises for the Iskender kebab that was seriously tender. It is a meat lover’s delight. Kusbasili Pide is like a Turkish style thin crust pizza topped with lamb, tomatoes, capsicum and kashkaval cheese and quite yum. Apart from the regular meat dishes they offer some attractive seafood options as well.

We were served a huge board with varieties of kebabs that were marinated in spices and well cooked. The flavours of the marination blended perfectly and this is definitely one of those dishes that will bring a smile on your face as you dig in.

The restaurant boasts of some lavish desserts like the Simit Katmer that has a crispy circular phyllo dough filled with fresh cream and a pistachio spread. Another one to try is the Pasa Kadayif that is like a Turkish ice cream sandwich. It has stringy ice cream layered between baked shredded phyllo dough filled with crushed pistachios. Watching them prepare the dish is as fun as eating it.

So the next time you are up for some Turkish delights complemented by beautiful views of the Burj Al Arab, head on over to Kaftan.
