We recently made our way to the Street Cafe in Ibis Styles Hotel to enjoy their Iftar buffet. The first thing you notice as you walk into the restaurant is the massive ceiling and windows flooding in natural light. We loved the spaciousness of the ambiance and the cozy seating. There were a number of counters displaying the buffet presentation and we were already making a mental checklist of what all to try. Little did we know we would get indulgent and end up over filing our tummies with all the yummy delicacies.
Get Set Gobble
Expect a range of dishes from Lebanese to Indian to continental showcasing various cuisines. To begin we picked up dips from their Cold mezze section. We tried their hummus, labneh and mouhmarra. Though these are very staple dishes found in all Lebanese menus, these ones really won our hearts. With the perfect balance of flavour and texture, we couldn’t get enough of them.
We generously stacked up on lavash, sesame buns, zaatar breads, cheese manakish, khubus and more on the side from their bread counter. Accompany this with their tabouleh, fattoush and other fresh greens for an absolute treat. The starting to our Iftar was nothing short of brilliant as we dug in guiltless through this section.
You can pour yourself a bowl of hot lentil soup with crispy bread. Their tandoori chicken was a good starter to dig into. Vegetarians had the option of cheese samosas and veg pakoras to indulge in. For the mains they had the options of penne arabiatta, matar paneer for vegetarians and sweet & sour fish, grilled beef with broccoli and steamed lamb for non vegetarians. There is no denying our love for Biryani. It is a must have item on an Iftar buffet spread. Though the rice was flavourful, the chicken was not as juicy as we hoped it would be. We felt the mains left us desiring for more.
They have a seriously amazing Dessert counter that will leave you speechless. Constructed with special care, the items in this section are definitely worth treating yourself with. We started off with their fruit tart covered with generous amounts of blackberries, raspberries, meringues, tempered chocolate, silver foil and more.
Our favourite was the Carrot cake that was moist inside and covered with pecans on top that gives it the crunch that everyone loves. Another great item to tuck into were their macaroons. With flavours such as raspberry, coffee and chocolate, they are great little bites. The chocolate mousse was all sorts of amazing and the cheesecake did not disappoint. The spread was absolutely scrumptious and we were charmed by all the sweet treats.
