Spotting a newly opened place in Sector 29, we decided to give Sublym a try. They are located on the first floor with fine dining seating available. The second floor is the roof top garden terrace equipped with mist fans and available to large crowds for hosting parties or enjoying the starry Gurgaon sky on a cool night. They have a crispy decorated interior with comfortable seating including semi private dining areas.
Heading here for a lunch on a hot summer day I indulged in quite a lovely meal.
Get Set Gobble:
My favourite drink (tried at the server’s recommendation) was the strawberry margarita. The drink was such a hit that within five minutes I saw them serving 5-6 glasses of the same across our table! MUST ORDER. I also tried their cucumber cooler (though it was an interesting preparation, I didn’t enjoy this particular mix), sex on the beach (was great), virgin mojito (wasn’t too sweet..which is good) and cranberry and strawberry mojito (interesting flavours..DO TRY).
Kasundhi fish tikka was a lovely preparation with flaky fish coated in mustard. DO TRY. I happened to try the veg galouti kebab and. The dahi ke kebab were an interesting preparation with a crunchy papad crust. The paneer sublym tikka was also good.
What deserves a special mention is their dimsums. I tried the steamed chicken and mutton pot stickers. They were absolutely divine and juicy in every bite. MUST ORDER.
Their Chicken satay was quite yummy with the peanut dip. I also enjoyed the lamb chops that had a good spicy marinade. DO TRY. Their mutton raan was really tempting to look at but the meat was a little undercooked.
The lunch was served in buffet style with separate sections for soups & salads, non vegetarian mains, vegetarian mains and dessert. The mains included dal makhani, vegetables in oyster sauce, Matar mushroom, Aloo capsicum, Kadhai paneer, Mutton rogan josh and Butter chicken. Assorted breads were served at the table. Though it is not possible to taste the restaurants specialty through a buffet style meal, I did enjoy the dal makhani and mutton rogan josh. They had the correct balance of spice and were cooked well. The dal was thick and full of flavour. The mutton curry was spiced amazingly and the meat was tender.
The dessert selection on that day included a scoop of vanilla ice cream, mini gulab jamuns and gujiya (since this was right around holi time).
Overall the meal was a satisfactory one where most dishes stood out in terms of being well prepared and seasoned. I am definitely heading back here for more family meals.
The service was decently quick enough to ensure that food was being prepared fresh to order but not too long to leave your tummy growling.
Family dining. Amazing dimsums. Satisfying meal. Good service. Excellent deals – so do check with the servers.
