Located in the Green Park market, easily accessible from the metro station, Hive is located just above the Fab India store. The seating is divided between two floors. You can walk up a flight of stairs or take an elevator to the second floor for a cosy lounge seating or head up to the rooftop on the third floor and be amazed. This place boasts to some really creative interior designing. The rooftop has essentially been converted into a greenhouse that is fully air-conditioned. Though I visited the place during the daytime and experienced the beautiful warm sun on a winter day, I was left constantly wondering how perfect this place would be during the rains with me sipping away on their lovely cocktails while the rain danced on the glass roof. It is truly beautiful with its quirky interiors and a lot of titbits are spread across the room to catch your eye from time to time – from a huge transformer meets elephant art structure on the wall, crazy printed cushions, grayscale wall art to cycle pedals and chains on the walls and under the table.
Get Set Gobble:
~ Life at the bar – I particularly liked the clove lemonade which was quite refreshing. Also worth a try is their orange mimosa – this was simply love!. If you are in for some more serious drinking, try their screwdriver (with a vodka base), pina colada, caprioska or head to the bar for some crazy shots!
~Pan seared Thai style tofu & potato cakes drizzled with sweet chilli sauce – I personally did not like the flavor of this dish.
~ Bruschetta of Herbed Roasted Mushrooms in Red Wine and Goats cheese – The toppings were nice though the bread itself was too hard.
~ Patata Bravas – Cubed potatoes topped with a spicy Pomodoro sauce. The potatoes felt a bit bland in themselves and the sauce was quite spicy. Would have loved it if the potatoes were cooked to be crispier. Watch out for the spice though.
~ Naan pizza topped with Tandoori Chicken Strips, Onions and Mozzarella cheese & Mushrooms, Black olives, Jalapeno ad Mozzarella cheese – A different preparation of pizzas. Ample toppings. Both the veg and non veg options tasted good.
~ Crispy chicken croquettes served with in-house sundried Tomato Caper Dip – This crispy fried goodness of minced chicken was amazing. Must try this dish.
~ Panko crumbed Amritsari style fish nuggets served with home made Mint Chutney – These were excellent. Fried to perfection, the fish actually melts in your mouth. Great contrast of textures.
~ Chicken meatballs served with sun dried tomato sauce – A nice tomato chutney envelops large chicken balls.
~ Calamari and chorizo served with a Chorizo garlic paprika aioli – The chorizo was hard. It was slightly on the spicy side.
~ Moroccan flavor lamb tagine and couscous bake – Personally I am not a couscous fan so could not appreciate the dish much though my friends seemed to enjoy it a lot. The lamb at the bottom is well cooked and spicy.
~ Burgers – Great size of the burgers. The Hearty Bean burger served with French fries was good. The cutlet of Juicy lamb burger seasoned with in-house spice rub and jalapeños was a little dry though. It is very difficult to get a good lamb burger where the meat is actually juicy.
~ Red velvet cake – Well it isn’t truly a red velvet cake as the frosting doesn’t really taste of cream cheese. However, it was soft and moist and quite good in itself. I enjoyed it.
~ Warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream – Nice flavour of cinnamon running through these mini pies.
~ Chocolate orange cake – Great combination of chocolate and orange in a soft sponge.
~ Classic carrot cake – Didn’t care too much for the cake. It was also a bit hard.
Chill vibes. Excellent dating spot. Easy service. Good drinks. Star gazing. That amazing rooftop.
